My autistic grandson came up for a long awaited holiday just as all this started. Then our state borders closed. He's still here and I'm loving it but the challenges of getting him to accept change is not easy. And I'm not as good at it either these days. It will end and we will all come together again. It would be nice to have some kind of timeframe but it is what it is.

Take care and remember, we are all doing a great job in rubbish times.Qlddebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04193119814049087186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2411253170651203836.post-92213994663045032082020-05-14T19:44:53.562+01:002020-05-14T19:44:53.562+01:00Your children are blessed to have you - I know you...Your children are blessed to have you - I know you do a fabulous job with them. Happy to hear you are all still well, and that many friends are bringing bits of happiness with everything from flowers to glue sticks.

Reading your comment about it not being the toughness of every day but the knowing that tomorrow will be the same - and tomorrow and tomorrow gave me pause. And I realized that is the explanation for why I am feeling a little depressed and a lot unmotivated. Although only in the "old" category as far as risk, even with otherwise moderately good health I wonder if I will ever feel comfortable going out to places like groceries, let alone a festival. I am already mourning the loss of my previous life, assuming that, even if a vaccine is discovered, many of the things that gave me joy will likely not happen again. I am hoping that, somehow, this situation will turn around, and I can slowly and tentatively feel comfortable being around a few people again.

Kudos to you for managing additional challenges to this stay-at-home time, and trying to remain cheerful most of the time, too. I guess we need to just take things one day at a time, and continue to hope. And to trust that He has a better time ahead for us.

Stay safe and well, you three.

Hugs,

Ann in VirginiaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2411253170651203836.post-34207968564540352132020-05-02T07:15:40.264+01:002020-05-02T07:15:40.264+01:00Thank you for continuing to write. I've heard that they have been considering a Friends reunion - A should send them her script as they might incorporate at least part of it!

Ooh, I just did a search for "virtual tour of Friends sites in New York" and the following two videos popped up! The first is of sites, the second is of the designer of their apartment. I did NOT view either, so please do so before allowing A to - just in case! I am hoping, though, that A will find them entertaining - and perhaps even helpful as she continues her screenwriting project! At the least, it might also tide A over until she builds up enough in her new bank account to take that very, very expensive trip!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFJfLClsRSg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdLOIPyL9ws

By the way, one of my son's college roommates is from Sri Lanka, and he said he practiced his English by watching Friends. None of it helps maintain peace and even-ness (if that's a word) of mind.

I haven't been outside in 2 weeks (because I'm an asthmatic) but that only mattered this week when people I knew started getting dangerously ill. I now know 12 people who probably have, or have had, COVID. (I say "probably" because only 2 have been tested). Only 1 had to be hospitalised and he's since been discharged.

I know these restrictions are necessary, but they're hard to live with when people you care about are getting sick and you're worried about what may happen to them next.

And you're right; all we have to do is stay indoors where I at least live in ease and comfort. I know NHS key workers who are running real risks in what they do, so I shouldn't whinge. I'm trying to count the positives and be grateful for what I have, which is much more than many people have. It shouldn't be as hard as it sometimes is. mq cbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13906606306547558836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2411253170651203836.post-72666074239029904912020-04-03T19:57:34.011+01:002020-04-03T19:57:34.011+01:00good to see you again too! We have just two grocery stores in our area (and they are both over a mountain and about fifteen miles away). One is a superWalmart, which is offering curbside delivery. You have to sign up for a time slot, though, and for days the two days ahead they allow have been fully booked. I was finally able to get a slot by staying up until 2:30 AM. Then we had to compile our order, of which most items were out of stock. We will find out at 8 PM tonight if we get anything on the list. Unfortunately, there was NO fresh meat or chicken, but we are hoping for some eggs, milk, and a loaf of sandwich bread. And it appears that we will continue to have creative (and, often, somewhat unusual!) meals out of what's still in the fridge and pantry for a while longer....

What an interesting time this has been.
