Studies

I've been a part of our small group , house group, cell group life group long enough for it to be called all of these things. We're none of us particularly smitten with life group as a title, but apparently cells are for prisons, small groups get bigger, and not all home groups meet at home. So we're now a life group. Whatever you choose to call us, we are a group of about a dozen adults who meet together once a fortnight for a Bible study and prayer and biscuits and chat. I'm not sure how long we've been meeting, certainly people have dropped in and out over the years, but I do remember that I was at one of our meetings when I got the call asking me to take Mog, so it must be at least 6 years.

Which is a fairly long winded way of saying, it was definitely my turn to lead the study this week, having successfully avoided not managed it before.

Ephesians 3. And a handy little study guide book. How hard can it be? I probably don't need to answer that - let's just say, the book didn't appear to relate to the passage at all, I got stuck trying to make the passage fit the study (which it didn't), and couldn't then make any sense of the passage apart from the study, and I am now tired and going to bed.

It's a shame really, because how cool is this?

"I pray that out of His glorious riches he me strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever! Amen. "vv 15-21.

I wonder what would happen if we stopped with the exposition and just read the Word?

I vote for just reading the word and looking up surpasses knowledge, knowledge ,work, etc. Then discuss how this would look in our own personal walk and how the walk in the World view compares to the walk in Christ's view.
